Tacoronte places of interest

Tacoronte, Tenerife - Places of interest

Tacoronte is a very rural town on the northern edge of the island of Tenerife, the Canary Islands. This town is only now beginning to become more tourist orientated however this does not mean that it is not worth visiting. Tacoronte has many places of interest that you can go and visit and look around. A few examples of these are featured below:

La Alhondiga
Address: Calle Calvario, Tacoronte.
Notes: The Alhondiga was constructed in 1685 as a storehouse for harvested wheat. Today it is an interesting agricultural monument.

Parroquia de Santa Catalina
Address: Plaza de Santa Catalina, Tacoronte.
Notes: The parish church of Santa Catalina was the first ever church built in Tacoronte . The main structure was supposedly built in 1545 and various additions and improvements were added over the years.

Santisimo Cristo de Los Dolores
Address: Santuario del Santisimo Cristo de los Dolores, Plaza del Cristo, Tacoronte.
Notes: This is both a church and convent dedicated to San Agustin. It was built in 1599 and is a seat of culture in Tacoronte .

El Calvario
Address: Calle Calvario, Junto a La Alhondiga, Tacoronte.
Notes: This is the most important calvary in the Canary Islands. It is a very solemn monument dedicated to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is used in Lenten activities and processions.

If that is not enough for you then you should come and visit Tenerife during carnival as there is always something fascinating going on.
