Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the place to be for serious shopping in Tenerife . Visitors will do very well to avoid the tourist traps of the southern towns and do their entire souvenir shopping here. The Canary Islands are, for the most part, partly tax-free, meaning there are no customs duties and value-added tax for most items bought. This means that prices on items are generally lower than in other countries in Europe. With a little work, great deals can be found everywhere.
As the weather is pleasant all year round (with temperatures rarely going below 15ºc) it makes it a lovely temperature for walking around and browsing the shops. Although if shopping is not for you, you can always find your way to the beach. In San Andres the beaches are beautiful, they are surrounded by thriving vegetation and the sand is as pure as it gets. You can find yourself going for lovely long walks along the beach or even just lying there and sunbathing.
