Los Cristianos popular traditions
Like the rest of Spain, Tenerife loves its festivals. Any excuse for a party! The most important festival in Tenerife is that of Carnival. This is a yearly event that takes place in the last week of February. It is a week-long affair of non-stop merry making and non stop partying. People go out on the streets dressed in costumes ranging from sleek and casual to daring and just plain outrageous. Though the main carnival takes place in the capital of Tenerife , Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Los Cristianos always ends up with huge crowds of visitors. Throughout Carnival week, there are various forms of entertainment, all sure to delight people of all ages.

The parties usually start in the morning and end in the early hours of the following morning. It is not a quiet festival so you need to prepare your party mood.
After the merrymaking of the Carnival, the tone quickly turns sombre as the Lenten season begins. The Holy Week takes place towards the end of the season, culminating in Easter Sunday. All throughout Lent, various solemn religious activities take place.
Los Cristianos is a typical Spanish town, rich in cultural tradition and history. Each year, festivals and holidays draw thousands of visitors who wish to experience the lively vibrancy and colour first-hand.
