La Orotava is a municipality on the island of Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands off the northern coast of Africa. The overall area of La Orotava extends from the northern coast of Tenerife inward, covering an area of about 207.31 square kilometers, making it the largest municipality in Tenerife. The town is located within the Orotava Valley, and within the boundaries lies Mt. Teide, a volcano and the highest point in the Canary Islands. This is a lovely part of Tenerife to go and visit as it has everything that you could possible need and also everything you could possibly want.
There are the glorious beaches on the north coast. With Sahara desert sand and crystal clear blue sea you will want to spend as much time as you have there. Also there are plenty of museums that you can go and visit. They all have interesting stories to tell. It is definitely a day well spent.
In La Orotava there are many festivals as with most of the rest of Spain. They celebrate carnival in February and this is a sight to be seen. They dance, sing have parades and eat and drink as much as is possible for a whole week. The parties start in the morning and last until the early hours of the following morning. This along with the rest of La Orotava should not be missed!
