Guimar places of interest

Guimar may only be small in comparison to places like Playas de las Americas and los cristianos however there are still plenty of places of interest to visit. You should always be able to find plenty to do.

Cueva de Chinguaro

The Cave of Chinguaro is an important symbol of Guimar in pre-Hispanic times. The site consists of a natural cave and a few man-made dwellings and houses. Historians believe that the area once served as an ancient temple.

Casa de la Raya

Guimar, Tenerife places of interest

This is a 16 th century house that was built by Francisco de Vargas, a sugar plantation owner of the period. The house was converted into a hotel in the late 1900s, specifically catering to European vacationers seeking warmer climates to treat ailments of the lungs.

Casa de Santo Domingo

The House of Santo Domingo is one of the more important of the historical houses of Guimar. It is located on its namesake street, Santo Domingo Street. The house was constructed in the mid-17 th century and at various points has served as the residence of a number of important people in Guimar.

If that isn’t enough for you then you can always go and visit the Parque Etnografico Piramides de Guimar. This is a very unusual park with 6 pyramids which have an unexplained purpose. There is also a museum that you are able to look around whilst you are there.
